Buying jute from Bangladesh: your questions answered

Practical answers for importers, retailers and distributors sourcing jute products from Farook Jute Mills — minimum order quantities, samples, lead times, shipping to Europe and the US, compliance and payment. If your question is not covered here, ask us directly and we will reply within 24 hours.

Ordering & minimums

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

MOQ is negotiable and depends on the product and how much customisation it needs. A standard, unprinted item carries a lower minimum than a fully bespoke build with custom sizing and multi-colour printing. We are a direct manufacturer, so we can usually arrange a trial order that lets you validate quality before committing to a full container. Tell us the item and your target quantity and we will confirm the workable minimum.

Can I order a trial quantity before a full container?

Yes. Trial orders are common, particularly for retailers testing a new range. Smaller shipments can travel LCL (in a shared container) rather than as a full container load, so you do not need container volumes to place a first order.

How do I get a price?

Send the product references you are interested in, your target quantity and your destination port via the quote form, and we reply within 24 hours with pricing, samples and lead times. Prices are quoted per order rather than published, because the cost of a jute product depends on size, fabric weight, lining, handles, print method and volume.

Samples & production

Can I get a sample before placing an order?

Yes. Samples are available and we produce one for your approval before any bulk run, so you can check construction, colour and branding in person. Nothing goes into production until you have signed the sample off.

What is your lead time?

Production typically runs 4–6 weeks after you approve the sample, plus sea-freight transit to your port. Seasonal programmes should be booked well ahead of peak, because the sampling round happens before that window starts.

Can you make products to our own design or specification?

Yes. We are a manufacturer, not a trading house, so bespoke work is routine. Send a sketch, a physical sample or a tech pack and we will quote it. Size, colour, weave, print, embroidery, woven labels, hang tags and retail-ready packaging can all be tailored, and full private-label production is available.

Shipping & Incoterms

Do you ship to Europe?

Yes. We export to buyers across Europe, the United Kingdom, North America, Australia and the Middle East. Goods ship FOB Chittagong with full export documentation, and your freight forwarder handles the sea freight and customs clearance at your end.

What does FOB Chittagong include?

It covers everything up to loading the goods onto the vessel at Chittagong port: manufacturing, quality control, packing, inland transport to the port and Bangladesh export clearance. Sea freight, marine insurance, import duties and destination customs clearance are yours — the full breakdown is in our FOB Chittagong guide.

What documents ship with the order?

A commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin as standard. For dyed or finished goods we can add compliance statements and arrange third-party test reports on request — see certifications & compliance.

Compliance & payment

Are your products compliant for the EU and US?

Yes. We use AZO-free, colourfast dyes suitable for EU and US import requirements across our dyed and printed ranges, and can supply compliance statements plus third-party test reports where your retailer requires them. Background in AZO-free dyes & REACH compliance.

What are your payment terms?

Payment terms are agreed per order and depend on the order value and whether it is a first or repeat order. Export orders from Bangladesh are commonly settled by irrevocable letter of credit (L/C) or telegraphic transfer. Tell us what your finance team needs and we will confirm what we can accept in writing before you commit.

How do I contact you, and how quickly do you reply?

Use the quote form, message us on , or email us at . Our export team replies within 24 hours. We work in English, and can correspond in French, German and Spanish.
