Hessian bags: choosing the weight

Hessian bags and burlap bags are jute bags under their UK and North American names — hessian and burlap are the same plain-woven jute cloth, which we weave at our mill in Khulna and make up into bags in-house, so you buy from the factory rather than through a trading house. Hessian is specified by areal weight in g/m²:

Weight alone is not a complete specification. A mill also needs the width, the construction as porter × shots (trade examples run from about 9 × 8 per 10 cm open to 11 × 12 close) and the yarn count — if you only have a target weight and an application, tell us those and we will propose the rest. Ordering: MOQ, lead time & terms

Minimum order quantity is negotiable and set per style — a standard item carries a lower minimum than a fully bespoke build, and trial orders can usually be arranged so you can check quality before committing to a container. Lead time is typically 4–6 weeks of production after you approve a physical sample, plus sea-freight transit. Orders ship FOB Chittagong with full export documentation, FCL or LCL.
